1 Corinthians 9:27 (KJV)  But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
Psalms 119:11 (KJV)  Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

You must have or own something to be able to hide it. If we do not read, study or meditate the word, how can it be hidden in us? Why must we have a storage of the word in us? The Spirit retrieves and reminds of a particular word regarding an issue or temptation.  A classic reference is Jesus and Satan's temptation; where  the relevant or needed words became useful in order to overcome the desires of the flesh. If Jesus needed the word to overcome the flesh, then who are we to think we can do without it. For instance, when the thoughts of fornication or adultery comes to mind; verses that relate to such sins would be brought to mind by the Spirit. So what happens if you have not been reading or studying such verses? There would be no reference word to empower and encourage you to overcome. That is why the reading, studying, listening to audio bible and meditating scriptures, is very paramount in our fight against the flesh; because there is spiritual power embedded in the word. To be continued.

May we choose to be serious bible students daily. Have a blessed Sunday.

Prayer: Please give me a deeper understanding of your word, as I choose to read and meditate it daily.
